Tooth Injury

When a dental emergency happens, you want to be able to contact Dr. Simons immediately. Please call 617.605.1953 and listen for the series of beeps. When the beeps are done, immediately punch in your phone number you are at, including area code and hang up. Dr. Simons' pager will show the number you punched in and he will return your call right away.

Common dental emergencies that you should page Dr. Simons for are:

  • Car or sports accident where a tooth is knocked out or hit so hard it now moves.
  • Severe pain or swelling in or around a tooth (indicative of infection). The importance of calling Dr. Simons right away in cases of possible infection cannot be over stated. An infection in the mouth can, in severe cases, spread to other parts of the body. You want to take care of a mouth infection as soon as you think this might be the case.
  • A tooth that is sensitive to hot or cold triggers. For example, if you are drinking your morning coffee and notice that a tooth is reacting to it, you should call the office right away. This is a signal that the tooth most likely has an infection in it.
  • Bleeding of any type could be indicative of infection or injury.
